Roundhay Area Guide

The family-friendly area of Roundhay has proved popular with tenants craving a more idyllic surround, whilst still having the option to venture into the neighbouring suburbs of Oakwood, Moortown, Chapel Allerton and Alwoodley should the mood take you.

Views of Roundhay

One of Roundhay's highlights is the 700 acres of parkland, gardens and woodland forming Roundhay Park, one of the largest municipal parks in Europe and home to world class concerts.

The park offers something for everyone including the recently refurbished manor house estate, the magnificent Tropical World housing its own butterfly park, aquariums and animal enclosures, and the Park Café offering English delights overlooking waterloo lake, complete with boat rides, and its resident swans.

Over the years, the park has hosted some of the biggest names in music, including Robbie Williams, The Rolling Stones, Madonna and Michael Jackson.

Every year, it is the setting for one of the region's most spectacular firework displays, attracting visitors from far and wide.

Unique and charming shops are just a stone's throw away in the nearby Oakwood and Chapel Allerton centres which include boutiques, beauticians, restaurants, bars and salons, as well as some of the necessities such as supermarkets, banks and post offices, ensuring that the Roundhay resident never has to venture too far for the things they need.

Beyond the Park is the versatile Street Lane, home to the legendary Flying Pizza restaurant, which continues to be popular for the rich and famous looking for a tasty Italian meal, convivial chat and elegant surroundings.

Located just five miles from the city centre, Roundhay is perfectly situated for a quick jaunt to the many shops, bars and clubs found in the city.

It is also considered by many to be one of the best areas to commute into the city centre, where residents can easily leave their cars and take advantage of the fantastic public transport links that sees buses running as often as every 10 minutes.

And for those working further afield, Roundhay is a short journey to the main motorway network, going North and South and East and West.

From families to professional couples and young single people, Roundhay offers all the benefits of city living without living right in the city centre.
