Pension funds tempted by private rental sector
Wednesday 6th May 2009
Institutional landlords and housing associations are to be encouraged to invest in the private rental sector, under plans announced by the Homes and Communities Agency.
Several organisations are said to have expressed interest, including pension funds.
HCA chief executive Sir Bob Kerslake said the initiative will aim to kick-start stalled housing schemes.
The British Property Federation has run a lengthy campaign to try and encourage institutional investment in the private rental sector, including 'build to rent' schemes.
