REGENERATION IN EAST LEEDS

9th Jan 2008

Linley and Simpson's Oakwood Branch have recently seen an increased level in demand from tenants for good quality properties in the eastern suburbs of Leeds - an area previously not sort after by professional tenants.

Encouraged by redevelopment funds from Leeds City Council some of the country's largest house builders are developing in the area which is helping to transform a once deprived area of the city. The Saxon Heights development on the former site of Killingbeck Hospital has proved particularly popular with young professional tenants and families alike. Two bedroom apartments have been letting within a matter of days of coming on to the market and the 3 bedroom town houses have proved very popular as well. The average rents on both types have been higher than previously achieved in this area of Leeds and the Oakwood Branch predicts demand to grow as the development nears completion.

At the neighbouring suburb of Halton the regeneration plans are well under way. In addition to the new Lidl Supermarket, Linley and Simpson have recently let 5 brand new two bedroom duplex apartments in the mixed used development of Hunters Court. The final phase was completed just a few months ago and the new tenants are benefiting from excellent transport links to Leeds and beyond ( the M1 eastern extension is just a 10 minute drive away ), local shops and amenities on their door step and the green open spaces of Temple Newsham Park just a stone's throw away. Further new commercial & residential developments are in the pipeline and our Oakwood Branch expect more young professionals to take advantage of these new properties at competitive rents in this up and coming area. For details of further properties available to let now in this area and beyond please contact our Roundhay Branch on 0113 237 0281.
