Yorkshire Lettings Agency staff home in on gruelling charity challenge

tough mudder team

STAFF from a Yorkshire residential lettings agency are swapping the comforts of "home sweet home" this weekend - for what the Army bills as "one of the toughest events on the planet".

Danny Tasker, Martin Elliott, Ross Harding, Kim Smith, Luke Lumbis and Emma Healy are taking part in the gruelling Tough Mudder challenge in aid of Martin House Hospice - the charity of the year of their employers, Linley & Simpson.

Linley & Simpson Team for the Tough Mudder Challenge

The six will compete over a 12-mile, 25-obstacle course at Broughton Hall near Skipton that has been specially designed by the Special Forces to test all-round strength, stamina, mental grit and camaraderie.

To succeed the team will have to overcome fire walking, electroshock therapy and running a mile in ankle-deep mud - a far cry from their day job working in the network of Linley & Simpson offices in Leeds city centre, Horsforth, Roundhay, Harrogate, Wetherby, Ripon, Ilkley, York and Wakefield.

Linley & Simpson marketing manager Danny Tasker said: "We wanted a challenge that pushed us all to the limits and Tough Mudder certainly promises to do just that.

"The challenge is designed by the Special Forces for the Armed Forces and is described as hardcore - so it's not for the faint hearted."

Martin House Hospice, based at Boston Spa, supports children with life-limiting illnesses and their families from across North and West Yorkshire. As its chosen charity of the year, Linley & Simpson has pledged to raise £20,000 this year to enable it to continue its unique role in the community.
