Tips for Moving

Moving house is an exciting time, but it can also be quite stressful. Linley and Simpson are here to make your moving journey as simple as possible. Check out our moving tips below and download our checklist to keep your move a smooth, stress free experience.

6 – 8 weeks before you move

This can be a period where it feels like not much is progressing, make sure you use this time to prepare yourself for your move. There are several tasks you need to do in this time period.

  • Confirm a date for your move, if you are renting notify your landlord of your moving date.
  • Speak to your employer about booking time off work around your moving date.
  • Start de-cluttering - don't pay money to move items that you are never going to use again.

Linley and Simpson are proud to support Martin House Children's Hospice who are always in need of stock donations. Bags can be donated at any Martin House retail outlet, including the charity's Thorp Arch Warehouse.

Make sure you are covered from the day you move into your new property. If you are moving into rented accommodation between moves you may wish to consider insurance which covers you for any accidental damage to landlord’s possessions.
