Just a short drive away North Cave Wetlands is a nature reserve haven for birdwatchers and anyone after a peaceful walk away from the crowds.

When it opened in 1981, the Humber Bridge was the longest single-span suspension bridge in the world, a title it held for well over a decade. All Saints' Church holds Grade I listed status and remains one of the town's most treasured buildings. Local resident Algernon Henry Barkworth survived the sinking of the Titanic in 1912 and later funded a building at Hessle High School in his memory.
