Home to a diverse mix of families, young professionals and students, it's a city that's full of opportunity, energy and character. The city centre is always bustling, with a vibrant arts and culture scene, independent restaurants, sociable pubs and bars and a calendar full of live music, festivals and events throughout the year. That city energy is balanced by plenty of green space, with parks and open countryside never far away. Families are well served by a wide range of educational opportunities, from nursery provision through to higher education, while excellent transport links make travelling around the city and beyond straightforward. Leeds also offers a diverse property market, from traditional terraces, semi-detached and detached family homes in established suburbs to modern apartments in the city centre and regeneration areas.

There's always something going on in Leeds. One day might be spent exploring Kirkgate Market, while the next could be browsing the boutiques and designer stores of Victoria Quarter. The city is packed with places to eat, drink and socialise, from independent cafes and restaurants to lively bars and live music venues, meaning there's always something new to discover. When it's time to relax, green spaces such as Roundhay Park provides the perfect place for a walk or catch up with friends. Those who enjoy culture can spend an afternoon at Leeds Art Gallery, catch a show at Leeds Grand Theatre or explore one of the city's many museums. Sports fans are equally well catered for, with Leeds United at Elland Road and international cricket and rugby at Headingley Stadium. The city thrives at night, with everything from relaxed drinks at a local pub to live music, theatre performances and nights out. It's this balance of energy, variety and opportunity that makes Leeds such a great place to live.

Browse Kirkgate Market, the oldest covered market in Europe, packed with independent businesses selling everything from fresh produce to vintage finds. Walk around Roundhay Park, one of the largest city parks in Europe. Shop around the Victoria Quarter, with stunning Victorian architecture and stained-glass ceilings. Visit the Leeds Art Gallery with an impressive collection of British art spanning the centuries.

Kirkgate Market is widely credited as the birthplace of Marks & Spencer, which began life here as a small market stall back in 1884. Leeds has more miles of canals than Venice. Residents of Leeds are traditionally known as "Loiners," though the exact origin of the word remains a bit of a local mystery.
