End of tenancy : need to knows

A few things are needed for a smooth move-out if you are coming to the end of your tenancy with us. This guide will help you understand the basic steps to moving out of your rental

Giving notice

As your tenancy comes to its end, make sure to give proper notice in writing. This is usually 1–2 months for fixed-term agreements while rolling contracts typically require 1 month's notice. Check your tenancy agreement for specific notice period terms and break clauses.

Preparing the property

To ensure you get your full deposit back:

  • Clean the property thoroughly, including carpets and appliances, and handle any minor repairs.
  • Remove all personal items, tidy up any garden spaces and restore the property to its original condition.

  • If required, hire professional cleaners and keep receipts as proof.

Final steps

Return all keys to us on the agreed day and attend the final inspection if possible. Settle your utility bills and council tax, providing final meter readings to the suppliers. After the inspection, your deposit will be returned through the deposit protection scheme, minus any agreed deductions. Remember to provide a forwarding address for future correspondence.
