LINLEY & Simpson have supported Aberford Primary School as part of their ongoing commitment to assist communities in the areas they operate in by donating funds for the school to improve their outdoor area.
Mrs Warner, Deputy Head of Aberford Primary School says, “The community of Aberford C of E Primary School would like to express our heartfelt thanks for Linley & Simpson’s extremely generous donation which has provided us with some much needed equipment for our outdoor area. Our outside space is a particular focus for us here at Aberford as we strive to make this a more welcoming, exciting and vibrant environment for our pupils to enjoy.
“With the very welcomed donation, we were able to purchase two rainbow wooden benches, creating a lovely, inviting and calm seating area for the children to enjoy when they wish to have some quiet time at break. We were also able to provide some multi-coloured outdoor bean bags for under the trees on the field, which were very much welcomed by all of the children throughout school. These have brightened up a corner of our school field no end and have certainly been used well.
“As we move forward, we are excited to continue to develop our outdoor area with other such equipment, where our ultimate aim is to provide a canopy over a grassed area on our playground. This would not only create a wonderful, sensory corner for the children during break time, but would also provide us with a useable ‘extended classroom’ for outdoor learning as well as providing an enticing area for the children to read for pleasure.
“As we are such a small school, we have a very small budget. As a result, we are very much dependant on the financial support and donations of very generous businesses and companies to support us with funding as we strive to create a more enjoyable space for our pupils. Our school family are always extremely grateful for any donations we receive as we couldn’t make these positive changes without them.”
Emily Wilkinson, Branch Manager of the Linley & Simpson Wetherby branch says, “We are committed to giving back to local community groups and schools across our area and we’re delighted to be supporting Aberford Primary School. Last month we held a ‘Design your dream home competition’ where we asked the children of the school to create their dream home, in any way they liked. We thought it would be a good way to support parents with the challenges of home-schooling their children during lockdown as well as giving the children an engaging project to get involved with. We received many entries, some of which were drawn, created on the computer and made out of arts and crafts. We had two winners, one from each age group and both winners received a £50 voucher to spend at Treasures Toys in Wetherby.

Emily continues, “To continue supporting the school we have also offered them our Give Back Scheme, whereby for every person that is associated with Aberford Primary School that lets or sells a property with us, we will give £250 back to the school, with the aim of driving as much money back into the school as possible.
“We were also delighted to have received this fantastic thank you card from the school and are very much looking forward to developing this partnership further throughout the year.”
