Ripon's Booming Appeal Among City Dwellers Grows Further As Development Opens it's Doors

RIPON’S booming appeal among homebuyers has been strengthened with a flagship development of new and converted homes that epitomises city centre living.

Cathedral Court – a gated development nestling close to the Market Square - is the largest project undertaken to date by Ilkley-based Meridien Homes.

cathedralcourt01_400_01In what is very much a "home grown" project that harnessed the skills of local workers and suppliers, the 11 properties are a mix of both new build and converted cottage-style homes, with two or three bedrooms. Each boasts its own private parking space.

More than half of the properties have already been sold, with the remainder available at prices ranging from £183,500 to £197,500.

And as part of the Government’s Help To Buy scheme to promote home ownership, purchasers subject to their own financial status can move in with a deposit as little as 5%, with an equity loan of up to 20% from the Government.

The development meets – and beats – the national standard for the sustainable design and construction of new homes, reducing carbon emissions and promoting higher standards of environment-friendly design.

Ashley Durrans, residential sales manager at the Ripon office of estate agents Linley & Simpson, said Cathedral Court added an extra dimension to Ripon’s city centre living offering.

"It is very rare to have a development of this style and quality near the heart of the city centre and on the doorstep of the growing numbers of bars, restaurants and shops that are springing to life – in turn raising Ripon’s profile and its appeal as a place to live and to work," he said.

"As befits a new breed of developer like Meridien, the quality of the kitchen units, appliances, sanitary ware and tiling really provide these homes with an excellent specification, with some plots ready to move into."

All the properties that are still available will be open to view on Saturday August 15 from 10am and can be found on Water Skellgate, Ripon.

Full details are avialable from Linley and Simpson's office at Old Market  Place, Ripon/and the joint agent  William H Brown, Albert Street, Harrogate.
