David Sanderson, Branch Manager of the new Linley & Simpson Holmfirth branch, discusses the current demand for rental properties around Holmfirth, Huddersfield, Sheffield and Barnsley.

Huddersfield

'Traditionally a northern mill town Huddersfield has evolved into a sought after location offering some outstanding scenery and great commutability to Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield via the M1 and M62 motorways. The area offers a wide range of property for rent from the traditional weavers cottages to modern apartments to large and comfortable family homes. The University of Huddersfield and the Royal Infirmary attract tenants from all over the world. We are finding at the moment that the properties close to the Infirmary in HD3 are incredibly popular with several applications received on every property advertised. In addition, the Holme Valley and surrounding villages of HD8 and HD9 are always in very high demand.'

Sheffield

'One of England’s largest cities Sheffield boasts some world class facilities and as a result draws in many talented and creative individuals. Having two highly regarded Universities, three major hospitals, including the Sheffield Children’s Hospital and a wide range of sporting, artistic and hospitality venues. High specification city centre apartments have become very popular in recent years and demand is high. There is also a strong appetite for all kinds of property from the leafy west side of the city to the more industrial east. Sheffield is definitely a city with further potential and is a great place to consider investing.'

Barnsley

'A firm favourite amongst investors who are in the know, Barnsley is something of a hidden gem. A down to earth Yorkshire town built from the proceeds of the mining industry there is a strong community feel and a wide range of property from grand Victorian townhouses to modern housing estates and further afield some stunning countryside homes. A great deal of investment is going into the town with a large town centre redevelopment project currently under way and the town enjoys excellent road and rail links for commuters. Demand for rental properties of all types is high and rents are strong. Combine this with attractive property prices and Barnsley is an excellent place to invest.'

'This is a large and diverse region with many differences but one common theme is that their respective rental markets are extremely competitive and fast paced.'

David has highlighted some ideal investment opportunities currently available in Huddersfield, Barnsley and Sheffield that are available through our sales partners, Simon Blythe.
