THE popularity of Ripon and its surrounding villages as an up-and-coming place to live continues to soar, according to latest research.
With its house prices rising on average by 4% over the last year, the Ripon district is outperforming the national increase of 2.5%.
At least one home is sold every single day in and around Ripon - there were 396 transactions in 2018 - with the average sale price hitting an all-time high of Ã‚Â£245,650.
In the last three months alone, there has been a trio of house sales in the HG4 postcode area alone of Ã‚Â£615,000, Ã‚Â£610,000 and Ã‚Â£564,995. The prices for all for types of properties in Ripon were far higher than the average for Yorkshire and Humberside.
The biggest difference was in detached homes, where the average price in Ripon of around Ã‚Â£380,000 is Ã‚Â£100,000 more than the regional average.
The quality of many new homes on the market in Ripon is extremely high - the bespoke collection of three detached homes on Palace Road near Ripon Golf Club, priced between Ã‚Â£800,000 and Ã‚Â£835,000, is a good example of the standard of new build being brought to life in the district. Amid rising demand, rising prices and rising quality, the only thing that is falling in Ripon this spring is the sponsored abseil of the Cathedral on Saturday May 18, when a team from Linley & Simpson will be joining 100 other people in raising money for charity.
