SKIPTON is currently experiencing a thriving property market as it continues to increase its population.
As the year heads into the first quarter of 2020, the evidence suggests that Skipton is becoming an increasingly popular place to live, according to sales specialists Dale Eddison and lettings specialists Linley & Simpson, who form one strand of the Linley & Simpson Group.
The popularity of Skipton as a place to make home continues to soar, with a population of 14,248 and house prices having risen by 26% in the past 5 years, Skipton is one of the best performing towns in the region and the entire UK. The town is a highly accessible place and continues to attract all ages, with easy access to the train station, good schools and an abundance of heritage buildings.
In the past year, the business has seen an increase in house prices by 9% with the average price for a detached property in Skipton now sitting at an encouraging £401,399 and £227,524 for semi-detached - both of which are considerably higher than average house prices in England and Wales. Branch Manager Helen Carter, says, "Skipton is the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. The countryside is right on the doorstep and there is a breadth of history, amenities and remarkable views which is attracting more people to the town."
The buy-to-let market also saw strong activity during 2019, with high occupancy levels of 98% for the branch, the average length of a tenancy being 21 months and an increasing demand for high quality rental properties in response to the growing population.
