THE popularity of York as a place to live continues to soar, according to latest research.

House prices have risen on average by 6% over the last year, and 30% over 5 years, outperforming the national increase of 2.5% over the last year. There were 4,031 sales in York in the last year. The average sales price over the last year was £256,531.

The average property values in York by property type are currently outperforming the Yorkshire average in all types, York is also outperforming the national average on all house types apart from flats and apartments.
